These shoes were designed aggressive, so tough boulders and overhanging routes are where they can shine. In particular, the heel performance on overhangs and aretes is fantastic. They perform well on slabs and vertical with small edges, but start to lose friction on bare, flat footed slabs because of the concave mid sole. The toe rubber is well shaped and relatively aggressive, but I feel that this is one area that could be slightly improved. I've felt more secure on dime edges in my La Sportiva Futura's or Muira VS's, but not by a huge margin. The trade off for the added comfort of the Drone as compared to that of the Futura or Muira is worth it. Andrew Serack
